Around $500K
In Albuquerque and Rio Rancho, roughly $500K buys a comfortable, updated single-family home — often newer construction with a yard, a garage, and mountain views in a good school zone. In Placitas, this is your entry point: a smaller home, or a beautiful view lot to build on. In Santa Fe, expect a condo, townhome, or a cozy casita closer to town.
Around $750K
This is where New Mexico really opens up. In Placitas, about $750K lands you a custom home on an acre or more with genuine Sandia-and-Jemez views. In Albuquerque, it’s a high-end home in a premier neighborhood or up in the foothills. In Santa Fe, you’re looking at an authentic adobe with Southwest character, often close to the Plaza or on a bit of land.
Around $1M
At a million, you’re in showpiece territory. Placitas gives you a designer custom build — vigas, walls of glass, courtyards, room for horses or a casita — on multiple acres. Albuquerque buys a luxury foothills estate with city-light views. Santa Fe means a classic adobe compound with acreage, privacy, and that unmistakable light.
